The Sins of Sodom

Last night at the Grammys, we saw that wickedness and perversion is not only out of the closet, but it is in your face! The new Anything but Christianity Goes philosophy was seen in Katy Perry's performance that was laced with occultism and witchcraft, even portraying herself as the Antichrist, to Queen Latifah's sacrilegious and abominable mass wedding for Homosexual Couples in a Church-Like setting complete with Stained Glass and Everything.

It is no longer that the pushers of porn and perversion are "out of the closet," but now they are in your face. They aren't satisfied with simple tolerance but want acceptance, or else you will be labeled as intolerant which is the worst sin in this postmodern and post-Christian era of America!

We have now lived to see in our own nation, the Systematic Dismantling of Judeo-Christian Morality and the Progressive Sins of Sodom and Gomorrah.  And this is EXACTLY how Christ Jesus said it would be leading up to His Return in Power and Glory!

Luke 17:28-32 tell us that it will be "As it were in the days of Lot." The book of Genesis chapter 19 tells us that Lot had become a Keeper in the Gate of Sodom.  He was a leader and judge in the most wicked city of that time.  He was a true child of Jehovah, yet he had learned to make it in Sodom.  As a result he loses everything including his wife who wanted another look at the Wicked City she was leaving behind.  Only he and his daughters escaped as the Judgment of God fell in the form of fire and brimstone.  Jesus said, they were partying and having a good time, and were completely taken by surprise when the judgment came.  

Now, when we think of Sodom and Gomorrah, we automatically think of the sins of sexual perversion, homosexuality in particular.  While it is true that according to the Scripture that was prevalent at the end, and yes "in your face," as they were trying to terrorize and rape the strangers whom Lot had taken into his house, it was only the last sin in a progression of wickedness.  

The book of Ezekiel chapter 16 gives us the whole picture of the Sins of Sodom, when he is prophesying the destruction of Jerusalem during the days of Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon.  He likens Jerusalem to "her sister Sodom," and he lists these sins as causation for destruction and judgment.

Eze 16:49

Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

Eze 16:50

And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.

Long before they committed abomination they were proud.  And God hates a proud look! After their pride, they were filled with bread while the poor and needy were neglected, and they had great riches but became idle and lazy!  In fact, even to this day, the area around the Dead Sea, where Sodom was located is filled with tar pits containing Bitumen.  Today, Bitumen is used in Asphalt and the making of roads.  But in Ancient times, it was used to make mortar for bricks and to waterproof ships. The Judaican Bitumen was considered the best in the world and the people of Sodom could literally go outside and scoop up as much of it as possible.  They became wealthy and didn't have to work for it.  As a result, they became lazy, gluttonous and filled with unbridled lust and greed.  

Romans 1 tells us that before they committed abomination/homosexuality, they were not thankful and worshipped other gods.  IN OTHER WORDS, Sodomy/In Your Face Homosexuality IS THE LAST SIN IN A PROGRESSION OF SINS just before God's Judgment falls! AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHERE WE'VE GOTTEN TO AS A SOCIETY IN AMERICA! If we do not have revival soon, GOD'S JUDGMENT WILL FALL! 

The good news is that it is also a sign of the 2nd Coming of Christ! Jesus is coming again soon! JUST AS LOT, THE JUST MAN ACCORDING TO PETER, ESCAPED PRIOR TO JUDGMENT, SO TOO WILL THE MEEK BE HIDDEN IN THE DAY OF THE LORD'S WRATH [ZEPHANIAH 2:3]! Christ will return and catch away/Rapture His Bride prior to the Wrath of the Lamb being poured out on the Earth! GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF HIS OWN!  Hebrews 9:28 tells us that He will appear the 2nd time unto them that look for Him!

Friends, Jesus could come at any moment! THAT IS GOOD NEWS AND OUR BLESSED HOPE! Are you prepared and ready for His return? If not, get your house in order and surrender afresh and anew unto Christ!
