Is the Fig Tree Blooming?

Mat 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer [is] nigh:
Mat 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, [even] at the doors.
Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Jesus told a parable in these verses relating to the 3-fold prophecy of Matthew 24. You will recall in verses 1-3 of this same chapter that Jesus had predicted that not one stone would be left upon another in the temple and it would be destroyed. The disciples then asked Him in verse 3, "Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" They wanted to know what it would be like when the temple was destroyed, Jesus was coming and the world was ending. So Jesus told them. I believe that history often repeats itself. And the same signs that were there in AD 70 when the temple was destroyed will be present when Jesus is coming again.

Anyway, Jesus said in this parable that when you see a fig tree's branch tender and putting forth its leaves you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see these things coming to pass, know that this is the generation which will see me return (my paraphrase). So how would it be? We need to look back earlier in the chapter to find out.

Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these [are] the beginning of sorrows.
Mat 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Mat 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

1. There will be signs in the religious world - mass deception, claims of deity by false messiahs, false prophets, persecution of genuine believers, betrayal and hatred.

2. There will be signs in the medical world - pestilences/diseases.

3. There will be signs in the physical world - famines and earthquakes in divers places.

4. There will be signs in the political/millitary world - nations rising against nations, kingdoms against kingdoms, wars and rumors of wars.

FRIENDS, WE HAVE ALL THESE PRESENT TODAY AND THAT'S JUST SOME OF THEM; READ THE ENTIRE CHAPTER FOR MORE!!! And when you couple them with what Luke 21, Zechariah, and Ezekiel have to say about Israel and Jerusalem, we know we must be that generation! So, my question, "Is the fig tree blooming?" I believe it is. Harvest is ending, summer is past, and many are still not saved. We must do all we can for Christ today! The song-writer put it this way:

Only one life, how soon it will pass.
Only what's done for Christ will last.
Only one chance to do His will.
So give to Jesus all your days.
It's the only life that pays.
When you recall, you have but one life!
